I never met Candace in person but we were email friends for at least 25 years. She was a delightful person to correspond with and I always enjoyed hearing from her. We had our love of dogs in common. Scott, I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss my online friendship with Candace very, very much.

I am so sorry for your loss. I first met Candace through the Dog Park group and worked with her on a number of projects. Smart, funny and always nice to me and the dogs.

I knew Candace from dog agility and she is one of the kindest, most supportive people I have ever encountered. I am truly sorry she has left this world, but feel so blessed to have known her.

Candace had a sharp mind and wit. She was tough. She cared about the right things. She loved the wilderness, adventures, Alaska, her dogs, and, of course, her husband, Scott.

She and I have been friends for 42 years, until, of course, she passed away a few days ago. I think she remembered every birthday of mine, my kids, and my wife's. I owe a lot to her. Candace, you were a light in many lives and I am so lucky that mine was one of them. Thank you. Peace.

Candace is the one in the blue parka, kneeling, with the white nose sun-guard. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse are the mountains behind the group. Mt Mera, 21'200', Nepal, November 1996. Earlier in the trip she developed acute mountain sickness at 17,000', recovered at 14,000', and then was in the first group to reach the summit of Mt. Mera.

Candace was a good friend, meticulous in what ever she did. She was ready to discuss most anything and could write it even better. Working with Candace for the Fairbanks Dog Park she would keep everyone in order for the projects . Buzz and Fido at the agility trials were many a summer fun experience and winter training out at the barn. Summers and gardening were always a good discussion: too much basil to the cute baby egg plants and time to freeze more kale. Meeting at the peat ponds, bringing our own coffee, sharing a snack and watching the ducks and beaver is a great memory. I will miss my friend.

Candace, I, and the people she worked with had many good experiences. We worked together, and also had fun in the lab and without. Candace was very special in so many ways. Meticulous, thoughtful, incredible writer and thinker. Very special to have shared scientific investigation and probed greater questions with her and her friends.
The world is a bit dimmer with the loss of Candace...Larry Crawshaw....

She sent me a box full of thoughtful gifts, and I tried to assemble a worthy box in return, I´d add things and take them out and never sent her, the box.
Her letter was so moving, and I was hardly anyone.
