Carla Goldizen Obituary

Longtime Alaskan Carla Anne Goldizen went to be with Jesus on July 30, 2021, at the age of 70 years old.
Carla was born in Los Angeles, California, and was the oldest of seven children. Her dad's work in aerospace sent her family to Boeing in Seattle. She graduated from Auburn High School in Washington and then moved to Portland, Oregon, to attend college. There, she earned an accounting degree and worked at First National Bank of Oregon.
With an adventurous spirit and enjoyment for the great outdoors, Carla moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1976. She worked at Mt. McKinley Mutual Savings Bank in the Mortgage Loan Department. In 1977, Carla began attending Graehl Assembly of God (now Jubilee Worship Center) and immediately became a special part of the church family.
Carla met her husband, Steve, on the softball field when he caught her fly ball. They fell in love and married Aug. 23, 1980, between sheep and moose hunting seasons. Carla and Steve had three children, Aaron, Heidi and Erika.
Carla possessed such a big heart for children and took seriously the responsibility to invest in the next generation. She especially loved spending time with her own children and often coached their baseball teams, soccer teams and jump rope clubs. In addition, she taught Sunday school and was involved in children's ministries and children's productions at church for many years.
Carla served in a few schools in the district in various capacities and felt privileged to be part of the planning committee for Anne Wien Elementary School, which opened in 1995. She found her sweet spot loving and serving this school community for 26 years, especially as the administrative secretary for Anne Wien since 2005.
Carla was a wonderful wife, a fantastic mother and grandmother, and a beautiful human being. She was a genuine people person and an encourager to all. She always loved to laugh and to bring a smile to others faces.
Carla possessed a true joy that ultimately stemmed from her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In 70 wonderful years, she touched so many lives and her impact and legacy of love will always be remembered.
Carla is survived by her husband, (Noel) Steve Goldizen; son, Aaron Goldizen; daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Daniel Venie; daughter, Erika Goldizen; and grandchildren, Grace and Jaren Venie.
A celebration of life service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 21, at Jubilee Worship Center. Following the service, at 2 p.m. will be a reception at Anne Wien Elementary School.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Jubilee Worship Center, 541 Third St., Fairbanks, AK, 99701.

If you knew Carla it was a blessing. She was an amazing woman. When our oldest son was only 5 she and her husband Steve took us in for a few months until we found a place to live. We were treated like family. She was a kind and very caring person. She will be truly missed and we will forever remember her kindness. Blessings and strength to the family. We pray that God holds you all tight as you all gain strength and mourn the loss of an amazing Mother, wife and friend.

Carla was such an incredible person. Whenever anyone needed a hand, she was there. She was a daily presence at Joy School when the kids were young, always helping out in the classrooms and in PTA. Carla was a wonderful speech aide at AWE and then went on to work in the office. What a blessing to have her in the front office greeting parents, staff and students. She will be missed. What an honor it is to have known her.

My heart goes out to the family snd Anne Wien staff. I had the privilege to work with her for a year when I was a long term substitute. She always had a hug for me. She is a very special person to me and my heart aches at the loss. God bless you Carla.

I worked with Carla 40 years ago at Mt. McKinley bank. We became friends and shared excitement as we both were pregnant at the same time. I continued to see Carla over the years as our paths crossed through working in the school district. Her smile, distinctive voice and beauty was always shining. So sorry for her family and close friends. Peace to all of you as you celebrate her life.

If it was possible to measure the human spirit, Carla´s was so big it would not be measurable. In all my life I´ve never met anyone who could light up the world like her. She instantly made you family and the love the she exuded was sincere. When I hear her name I think of one of the greatest blessings I´ve ever been blessed with. She didn´t have to tell you about Jesus for you to know He filled her, she was truly hands and feet for Jesus. Thank you Carla for making my world and so many others a better place to be. Trust me, you will NEVER, be forgotten and will always be loved.

Our world was a better place with Carla here. I taught all three of her children (Aaron, Heidi, and Erika) second grade. We spent many hours together because Carla was a devoted parent and thus a classroom helper. Always a high energy and positive person who was well loved by all. May your wings take you high and you will be at peace, Carla.
