Charlene Krause Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma and honored friend, Charlene Marie (Dixon) Krause, 73, of Fairbanks, Alaska, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 13 while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Charlene was born Nov. 8, 1948, to Charlotte (Walsh) Dixon and George Dixon in Indianapolis, Indiana. The family moved to Pennsylvania in 1961. After graduating from Upper Perkiomen High School in 1966, she married the love of her life, Kenneth (Kenny) Krause in 1968. They recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. Together they raised three daughters in Green Lane/Sumneytown until the family moved and made Fairbanks, Alaska. their forever home in 1983.
She started working in the bakery and deli departments at Market Basket shortly after arriving in Fairbanks. Over the last 39 years, she also worked at SuperValu, Garden Island Deli, Gavora's liquor stores, and Gavora's main office where she quickly moved up to management positions and became part of their family.
Charlene enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She traveled to many tropical destinations and states. Charlene and Kenny celebrated their 20th anniversary in Hawaii, their 25th on a Mexican cruise, and their 50th in Puerto Vallarta. Those who knew her will miss her smile, sparkling blue eyes, and mischievous sense of humor. Telling her she couldn't do something would make her do it just to prove she could. She was a people person and happiest when helping others. She enjoyed writing poems for her loved one's special occasions.
Charlene was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her husband, Kenny; her brother, Charles (Chuck), husband of Juanita (Nita); her sister, Nancy; three daughters, Michelle, wife of Greg Peede; Melissa, wife of Brett Wener; Monica (Rinky), wife of Jeff Packard; nine grandchildren, Christopher Coty, Carine Fitch, Reid, Jenna, Ryan, Evan, Kendra, Jessica and Jeffrey; six great-grandchildren Augusta, Jason, Emily, Emma, Alyssa, and Everly; and her beloved dog, Jaxx.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2022 in Fairbanks. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Porter Heart Center, Fairbanks, or a local Christmas toy drive, as Christmas was her favorite time of the year.

Charlene was important in my life. I remember the little moments when we had a few minutes to share. She was always busy at her job with Gavora but we had those few moments. Those moments were a gift. Wayne knew Kennys family from PA. We all had shared friends and family. I was a happy person after just a few moments with her. I wish her family my prayers. She is gone too soon. All our love to all her family. We will miss her. Randi

Wayne and I live out of town now and I just saw this memorial to Charlene. She always had time to talk to me when I saw her. She was always so excited for family reunions. Her family meant so much to her and her daughters are both so beautiful and their smiles brightened any moment when we saw each other. Wayne and I will miss her and we wish the entire family our condolences.
