Frank Warren Obituary

Frank R. Warren passed away peacefully, March 14, 2012 at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
Frank was born June 4, 1928, in Batavia, N.Y. He arrived at Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks in December 1946. After being discharged in April 1949 at Great Falls A.F.B.in Great Falls, Mont., he returned to Fairbanks. He worked at various jobs, including Lathrop Company as a projectionist at the Lacey Street and Empress theater, where he met his future wife, Mary O'Leary, whom he married in 1953.
In 1956, Frank and Mary moved to Circle City after purchasing the Yukon Trading Post from Wilbur Jewel. The next 21 years slipped by quickly, raising their three children, Vicky, Sandy and Bobby. Much time was spent with friends, trapping, hauling water from the river and cutting wood to keep three stoves burning. After their fourth child, Brit, arrived, they realized it was time to retire, so in 1977 they sold the Trading Post and moved to Central.
Frank spent many of his "retirement" years building roads, then eventually started mining for gold on Crooked Creek in 1984. In 1991, Frank finally decided it was time to really retire, so they sold the mine and settled in Fairbanks, where they had already been spending many winters. No matter where they lived or what he did for a living, Frank worked hard and was a good provider for his family. Frank enjoyed flying and owned many airplanes over the years, often flying to out of the way places to hunt and fish with friends. He enjoyed life and was always active, hard working and playful, even as the years aged him.
Many of the more recent winters were spent by Frank and Mary in their motorhome, "tooling around" the Arizona area. He led a full life and left his family and friends with many cherished memories.
Frank is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; children, Vicki and husband Dick, Tim and wife Becky, Brit and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Fred and wife Amie, Mike, Shelley, Morgan, Kelly, Matthew and Orion; and great grandsons, Riley and Corbin, as well as brother, Jim, sisters and brothers in law, Judy and Dick Seiler, and Virginia Boyce of Florida, and Edward O'Leary of Fairbanks.
Franks wish was for no memorial service. This summer the family will simply be spreading his ashes to the winds, allowing him one last flight over Eagle Summit, where he will join two of his children, Bobby and Sandy, and granddaughter Misti Blu, as well as other family members.
Arrangements were entrusted to Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.

Mary, I have fond memeories of growing up in Central, riding horses with Sandy, Carol and Colleen. Life was grand. I will always remember the great gatherings at the cabins filled with miners, laughter, feasting and dance. Good times had by all. Thanks for the memories.
