James Austin Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Jim Austin would like to share that he gained his wings on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. Jim loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and 1968 Ford trucks. He was always quick to put a smile on anyone's face and had a real passion for rebuilding trucks.

Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Margery Austin; infant brother, Davy; his sister, Nancy; and his first wife, Myke Augustus. He leaves behind his father, Fred Austin; his sister, Lauren Henning (PJ); his brother Rick Austin (Brandi), his brother Kevin Austin (Fane) and his brother Rob Austin (Staci Augustus); his former wife, Shelly Austin; his stepdaughter, Nicole Rumery (Matt Rumery); as well as many nieces and nephews.

We will miss our Merry Sunshine with the mischievous twinkle in his eyes. Rest well, Jim, we will be together again. We love you always.

A celebration of life for Jim Austin will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Light of the World Lutheran Church, 4155 Geist Road, Fairbanks, AK.

Shelly I am so sorry about Jim. He was always smiling and had a great personality. He always stopped to say hello when he would see us in Fred Meyer. He will be missed. Prayers of comfort in this time.

It was always so great to see Jim come into NAPA. His smile and sense of humor was the perfect antidote to a bad day. He will be missed

I will miss you cousin! You introduced me to Mel McDaniel´s music when we were kids and even gave me your copy of the cassette tape. I wore it out. To this day I still think of you every time I hear "Baby´s Got Her Blue Jeans On". I hope you know how much you were loved by all of your family.
