John Kalberg Obituary
Jack was born June 28, 1952, in Bellingham, Washington, to John and Winnie (Gallanger) Kalberg. He moved to Friday Harbor with his family in 1961.
Following graduation from FHHS in 1972, Jack joined the Army and served most of his time in Korea. Following his military service, he moved to Fairbanks and became a long-haul truck driver through the Teamsters union.
Jack was married to Dellalee (Rapuzzi) Kalberg in 1978, and together they had two children, Tifiny Raylene and John Robert. Jack took great pride in bragging about his daughter and son as they grew up.
In retirement, Jack left Alaska and moved to Apache Junction, Arizona, and enjoyed life in the sun. He made many friends while visiting and expressing his opinion.
He believed in not taking yourself too seriously. He loved to make offhanded remarks or ask off-the-wall questions to see others' responses. He was an avid Washington Huskies fan and really enjoyed watching "his huskies" play. He bragged that his five food groups were sugar, candy, ice cream, donuts and cake. He had a stomach of iron and a heart of gold. He is missed deeply by his family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Winnie. He is survived by his daughter, Tifiny (Shaun) Bartolo, and grandson, Jackson, of Cairns, Australia, as well as his son, John (Angela), and grandson Aiden, of Beijing, China. He is also survived by three sisters, Connie (Aubrey) Redling of Port Hadlock, Joanne (Don) Johnson of La Conner and Karen (Rick) King of Friday Harbor, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
There will be a graveside service with military honors at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Friday Harbor Cemetery in Friday Harbor, Washington.

Darn I always wondered about what Jack might be up to into his retirement years. I worked through the teamsters union along with Jack. Jack always had a good outlook on life. Rest in peace Jack. My condolences to his remaining family members.
