Scott and Gail and Jo McBride were the first ones to welcome us to Alaska and invite us into genuine friendship--that was 1998. Truly a friend sticks closer than a brother and Scott was that and more. My prayers and love to the family because only God can give true comfort and peace. And I rejoice that Scott is totally free and happier than he ever dreamed possible. i wouldn't deny him that, but also don't deny the hole he leaves in so many of us.

I first met Scott and Gail in Charleston at a job site at the old naval base. Working with him was a little bit of a learning curve but after understanding his way a job should be done he became a pleasure to work with because I always knew what was expected and he never faulted. Over the next several years we worked at many jobs all around the southeast and grew to becoming good friends. I especially enjoyed having them at my home on numerous occasions and visiting them at the farm in Missouri and I jumped at the offer to help them move to Alaska, that was a special time for me. We visited Scott and Gail in Alaska with my wife and kids netting family and friends that I had heard old stories about. Went on many outdoor adventures and will cherish those memories forever. We would keep in touch by phone or text and email thru Gail. Neither of us were much at social media. I could tell Scott´s health was failing overtime when we talked and when I called to check on him this past verterans day and Gail told me his condition my heart was so heavy that I felt I could not bear hearing his passing. But when Gail called that morning with the sad news I was surprised that I felt a sense of relief knowing that his pain and suffering had ended. Scott will be remembered and missed by so many people that he touched. Especially me.
