Mackenzie Michael Barnum

1987 - 2017

Husband, daddy, son, brother, nephew and cousin, 30-year-old Mackenzie Michaell Barnum left us suddenly Sept. 14, 2017, due to an automobile accident. He was born Feb. 4, 1987, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. He attended Joy and Ticasuk Brown elementary schools, North Pole middle and high schools, along with Hutchison Career Center. Conventional school turned out not to be for Mackenzie, but he received his GED in 2005 from the Adult Learning Center, the same year he would have graduated high school.

He worked seasonally at OIT, Inc. for 10 years. He also worked for Jiffy Lube and Alyeska Tire, and his latest job was at Mobil 1.

From the time he was 6 and in first grade through his 8th grade year he played North Pole Youth Football. Later, he refereed youth football for three years. His hobbies as an adult were wood smithing, reading about space and history, playing with Legos, "Star Wars," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," watching WWE wrestling, and music - listening to it and playing the guitar and/or harmonica. As one of his friends said, "They were just kids that only had to 'adult' to pay the bills."

On April 23, 2012, Mackenzie married Fancy Davids. Fancy, and his girls, Myla and Farren, were his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, whom he never had the chance to meet, Ron Barnum and Morris Jones; his beloved grandma, Mary Jones; grandmother, Gini Barnum; and brother, Jason Barnum.

He is survived by his wife, Fancy; daughters, Myla and Farren; father and mother, Kevin and Debora; sister, Corinne; niece, Kendra; mother- and father-in-law, Samantha and Bobby Davids; brother-in-law, Sunny Davids; aunts and uncles, Cecelia (Jim) Vance, Sonja Stovall, Kyle (Sue) Barnum, Pauline Field, Bonnie, Brad and Brenda Davids, and numerous more throughout the Lower 48; many cousins, including April Whaley, Tim Vance, Joel Stovall, Angel Atkins, Patrick and Kelsey Barnum, and many, many more; and friends who were like brothers - you know who you are.

One of his favorite sayings was, "May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light. May good luck pursue you each morning and night."

You will be missed more than you know, but you will live on in our hearts forever.
