Michael L. "Mike" Robinson

1941 - 2018

Michael L. "Mike" Robinson, born Oct. 16, 1941, in San Diego, California, died in Redmond, Oregon, on April 26, 2018.
He was happily married to his wife, Neol-Mihri Noyes Pawley, for 28 years. She, along with his children, Heather Neilson and Meredith Ingalls, and Noel's children, Deirdre Hamilton, Pamela Pietras, Leslie Pawley, Jenni Pawley, Harley Pawley and Tod Pawley, and his brother, Steve Matthews, survive him. His parents, Dale and Margaret Matthews, precede him.
Michael lived in Fairbanks for 67 years. He graduated from Lathrop High School in 1960. He loved Alaska. His favorite job was parts man for the Alaska Department of Transportation. He loaded his truck himself in Fairbanks, and unloaded it himself at every road camp, all the way up to Prudhoe Bay one week, and down to Tok and Eagle the next week. He carried tractor tires, 50-gallon drums of fuel and lubricant and spare parts and brought the used equipment back to Fairbanks.
He and Noel enjoyed fishing in Valdez. They became members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, taught safe boating classes and inspected boats. He was commodore of over 400 members in Alaska during 2007 and 2008.
They were members of St. Rafael's Catholic Church in Fairbanks. A rosary was said and a funeral Mass performed for him on May 1 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Redmond.

Michael Robinson was well known for being fair, honest and understanding. He was always there for his friends, family and even strangers. Rest in peace, shipmate.
