Rick Rein

Rick Rein, 58 years old, passed at home following a long illness with his wife of 40 years, Tina, at his side.

Rick was born to Ralph Rein and Lynne Horton, July 22, 1964. He loved sports and the outdoors. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with his dad, sons and later, his grandsons.

Rick had a heart of gold and the ability to sense when others were struggling. He knew those struggles personally. In his last days he was able to find peace and share many memories with family and friends.

Rick and Tina were married April 1, 1983, and had two sons, Derek and Andrew. They had a desire to experience life with an adventurous spirit and lived in many places, including 20 years in Alaska. Living in Alaska gave Rick the opportunity to share the experience of deep sea halibut fishing with his best friend, Kevin Green. He and his wife were able to fish for silver salmon, king salmon and red salmon on the Copper River. Those were some of his favorite memories.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Rein; his father, Ralph Rein and stepmother Marian Rein; mother, Lynne Horton; sons, Derek Rein and his wife Rosalee and Andrew Rein and his wife Kally; his brothers, Rodney Rein and Michael Rein; sisters, Cyndi Ronfeldt, Chelsie Rein and Jessica Driscoll; and grandchildren, Bradley, Dahlia, Brody and Bryar.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 238 W. 6th St., Bayard, Nebraska. The family asks that you stop and share stories and memories from your time with Rick.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given to Fairbanks Foundation Health Partners Hospice program through Tina Rein, 2423 Schutzen St., North Pole, AK 99705.
