Ronald Becker Obituary

Ronald was born Oct. 17, 1948, at Ladd Air Force Base, Fairbanks, the first born of Douglas William and Adele Johnson Becker. Ron lived his entire life in Fairbanks and graduated from Lathrop High School in 1967.
Ron got his love for construction and trucking at an early age from his dad and uncles. He had a natural ability for the trade, and established a reputation during his teens. He entered the Army on June 3, 1968, and was honorably discharged March 16, 1970. After his military service, Ron worked out of the Laborers, Operators, IBEW, and the Teamsters before starting his own company, Becker Trucking, in the late '70s. Ron was proud that his son, Reggie, inherited his abilities and worked with him to create a successful business. Many capable truck drivers are on the road today because of Ron's guidance and unique mentoring.
Along with Ron's love for trucking was his love for boating and for his cabin on the Salcha River. Many a tale of Ron's adventures are a great source of entertainment and awe.
He loved to swim - from the gravel pits and rivers of his youth, to Hawaii's beaches. Ron had a great love for animals and the many pets he had since childhood. Ron's lawn was a source of pride to have the greenest and prettiest manicured lawn. He had already mowed it early last month.
Ron was good-hearted, kind and generous - even when he was ornery. He was an inspiration and bigger than life. Ron will leave an empty spot in our lives - filled with great memories.
Ron passed on to new adventures on April 24, 2015.
He was preceded in death by parents Douglas William Becker and Adele Johnson Becker, and his dogs, "Sweet Pea" and "Jake."
He is survived by his son, Reggie Douglas Becker (Shelia Kendrick Rodgers), and beautiful granddaughter, Shayla Kendrick Becker; his daughter, Ronda Lee Becker; his wife, Jan Becker; his siblings, Donna Mae Erick (Ernest), Robert Stanley Becker (ZoAnne), Sherry P. Becker, Donald Jones (Mary) and Richard W. Jones; stepmother Veva Becker, longtime friend and companion, Marilyn Mason, her son, AJ Ross, and our little angel, Macy Ross; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousin and friends.
There will be a tribute to Ron's life at 3 p.m. -no, better make it 4 p.m. it's "Becker Time"- May 16 at Becker Trucking, in Fox. For information, call 457-2961.

So long Ron, we'll see you up there one day. I'm glad I got to renew friendships with you and Reggie and Bobby a couple of years ago. Sad I didn't get back to do it again. You rest in peace knowing Reggie will carry on in that Becker Trucking Tradition that you built from the ground up. My heart goes out to you Reggie and Jan and Rhonda and Bobby. Be strong in these times as that's what Ron would want. He was a good man. One of the best.
Your friend,
Mike Wellner

Ron was a great man and role model. I worked with him as a mechanic out of the IBEW. He was always willing to help me and guide me when I was having a hard time. I always repected him and what he accomplished in his life. Our condolences go out to all his family and may you rest in peace Ron.

I've known Ron and his family all my life. They have always been like family to me. I to have very fond memories working for Becker Trucking. Ron was always great to work for. I will miss him like I would my own brother. Gods Speed my friend.

A prayer for all...
Father, Thank You for each and every day You have blessed us here on earth. Thank You for Your tender mercies. Thank You for giving us friends and family to share joys and sorrows with. I ask You to bless my friends, relatives, brothers and sisters in Christ and those I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Where there is joy, give them continued joy, Where there is pain or sorrow, give them your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence. Where there is need, fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. In Jesus' name, Amen.

So many years have passed since our swimming in the gravel pits in Fairbanks! Mom and Adele having coffee and us kids free to enjoy the summer days. My memory of Ron is that he was a skinny kid. Friendship with Donna over the years has been good, It is wonderful to read that Ron's life has been successful and productive. Prayers and thoughts are with the family, we are blessed with friendship!

I have known Ron since high school. Having grown up in the construction business and knowing how easy it is to fail in that arena, I have always been impressed that Ron was able to make a trucking business flourish in Fairbanks. Thankfully, his son, Reggie, will continue in his footsteps. My wife & I send our prayers & sympathy to the family, with whom he was very close.
