William Hickman Obituary

William Green Hickman - Bill, Billy, Little Bill; he was known by many names, but he was a great person, a loving son, a caring brother, a devoted uncle, a loyal friend. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce his departure from this world, far too soon, at the age of 41.

Billy was known for his loyalty, kindness, and generosity. He always had a soft spot for animals, and his love for his family, especially his nephews, was immeasurable. He took great joy in spoiling them with gifts, especially during the holidays, and always made a point to check in on their progress in school. Billy's generous spirit and willingness to help those around him will never be forgotten.

Billy was born in January 1983, in White Salmon, Washington, to William and Pauline Hickman. Mischievous as a child, rebellious as a teen, and always marching to the beat of his own drum, Billy's adventurous spirit shone through from an early age. The family moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1984 when Billy was an infant. He was an outgoing boy, making childhood friends he still has to this day. He became active in little league, and was always exploring on his bike, enjoying the freedom of adventure.

As he grew older, Billy became fascinated with electronics, often tinkering with gadgets and machinery. This passion for technology remained a lifelong interest. After obtaining his GED in 2001, Billy took courses through job corp where he became Microsoft certified. Billy proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in 2003, serving as a lineman during a deployment to Kuwait. His time in the service was important to him and played a key role in shaping his character, contributing to the man he became.

After returning from his deployment, Billy began working alongside his father in the trucking industry. He spent much of his career working as a loader operator and driver, a job he held with pride until his passing. Billy's talent and skill as a loader operator earned him the respect of his colleagues. He took pride in doing the job right, and his expertise was evident in everything he did.

To say that Billy was deeply loved would be an understatement. Family was incredibly important to him and he was immensely important to us. He leaves behind a family that will always feel his loss; his parents, William Hickman and Pauline (Reeves) Hickman; his siblings, Marissa (Hickman) Rose and Amelia Hickman; his brother-in-law, Christopher Rose; and his nephews,

William (Henrik) Rose and Lincoln Rose. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In the spring Billy's ashes will be laid to rest at the Birch Hill Veterans Memorial with military honors. A celebration of Billy's life will be held at a later date, where we will come together to honor and remember the remarkable man he was.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

My deepest condolences to the Hickman & Rose family.
Billy will be deeply missed as a member of your family. But never forgotten.

I am so happy I got to know and work with Billy. He made the job look easy and was extremely proud of making those loads look professional and perfectly loaded before releasing them out the gate.

RIP my friend. See you on the other side.
