Harriet Krause Obituary

Harriet Krause
December 7, 1941 - July 24, 2025
Harriet L. Krause, 83, of Lidgerwood, ND, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, surrounded by family at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Lidgerwood, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Harriet Louise Krause was born on December 7, 1941, in Wahpeton, ND, to Harry and Camilla (Muehlberg) Luebke. She was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Barney, ND, and graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1959. She went on to attend Wahpeton Science School, graduating in 1960. Later that same year, Harriet married Gary Krause, and together they built a life centered on faith and friendship. They raised three daughters together: Lynne, Terri, and Susan.
Harriet worked with care and dedication at Dr. Poole's office and later at Dakota Clinic in Lidgerwood, where she formed lasting bonds with coworkers and patients alike.
After they became empty nesters, they spent 20 cherished winters in La Feria, TX, where Harriet loved the sunshine and the slower pace of life.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Harriet's greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into raising her daughters and beamed with pride at every milestone her grandchildren and great-grandchildren achieved. She never missed a chance to cheer them on-from sports games to school events-and treasured every moment she spent with them. Whether playing a board game or simply sharing stories around the kitchen table, Harriet was fully present, always offering warmth, laughter, and a listening ear. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith lives on in each of them.
Harriet was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and served faithfully in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML). Her strong faith and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on her church community.
Harriet is survived by her beloved husband of many years, Gary Krause of Lidgerwood, ND; daughters: Lynne (Blair) Michels of Milnor, ND, and Susan (Mike) Smykowski of Wahpeton, ND; and her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Shauna Reimche (Jonathan), Lee Smykowski (RaeAnne), John Smykowski (Brianna), Lucas Michels (Sarah), Krystal Eckstein (Chris), and Kelsey Bobzien (Chris), along with 15 great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to her days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Camilla; her daughter, Terri; and her brother, Wayne.
Harriet will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering faith, and the deep love she had for her family-love that will live on through generations.
