I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. He was the reason I made my career in vision research. I contacted him as an undergraduate at Delaware in 1976, hoping to get some research experience in his lab. He was a kind, patient, and wonderfully understanding mentor whose enthusiasm about science left a lasting impression.

My thoughts are with Allen's family. I hope you're favorite memories will comfort you as time heals your sadness. I worked in Allen's lab as an undergraduate and graduate student studying turtle vision. He was a good mentor.

Sincere condolences to Allen's family. I was a student in his lab from 1975-1978. Allen had a very good influence on my life and those of many others. I always have, and will continue to, think positively and warmly of him.

Allen and I went to the same high school and were at UCLA together. We always remained friends. He was a warm, intelligent and faithful friend whom I will never forget.

Sorry to hear of your father's passing. I was his neighbor for a short time in Newark before he moved to NC. I hope the memories of your dear father will provide solace during this difficult time
