Annette Hammond Perkinson, age 78, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016 in Raleigh. Born in Rocky Mount, NC on July 3, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Flaye Maxwell Hammond, Jr. and Mary Louise Ivey Hammond. She was also preceded in death by her older brother, Flaye Maxwell Hammond, III.

Annette was married to B. L. Perkinson for 29 years during which time she lived in Mississippi, Virginia, Oklahoma and South Carolina prior to moving to Raleigh in 1965. She graduated from NC State University with a BA in Accounting, a BA in Economics, and a BA in Sociology. After moving to Raleigh, she went to work at the NC Legislature where she worked from 1968 to 1976. She was the first supervisor of the Legislative Computer Bill Drafting Department. She left to go back to NC State to major in accounting and worked in the accounting field for four years. She then went to work as an Auditor at the State Auditor's Office. She retired from the State in 2002 and started her own business as a financial and fraud investigator. Annette was one of the early members of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, a professional organization in Austin, TX, and served as President, Training Director and a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Carolina Chapter of CFE's. Nationally, she was elected as the Eastern U.S. Regional Governor for the ACFE in 18 states from Maine to Puerto Rico, and was appointed by the Chairman of the ACFE to head the Non-Profit Transition Task Force. Annette was a licensed Private Investigator in NC. She was involved in many fraud and embezzlement investigations since retiring from the Auditor's Office.

Annette was a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. She enjoyed tennis, watercolor painting, and bridge and was an avid reader. She also was involved in gathering genealogical information for her family and joined the Bridger Family Association in Virginia for descendants of General Joseph Bridger, one of the first settlers of Jamestown.

Annette is survived by her son, Jeffrey Hammond Perkinson and wife, Laurel, of Mount Pleasant, SC, and their five children: Philip Perkinson, Caroline Perkinson, Robert M. Perkinson, Joseph Perkinson, and Claire Perkinson.

She is also survived by her son, Robert Lee Perkinson and wife, Lari, of High Point, and his daughter, Katie Perkinson; and step-daughters, Jennifer Quattlebaum and husband Marshall; and children, Miley, Maddie, and Mason; and Stephanie Ferguson and husband, J.G.; and daughter Sutton.

She is also survived by her brother, Tony Hammond of Winston-Salem; half-brother, John Hammond of Oxford; and half-sister, Virginia Hammond of Atlanta, GA and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Frank Thigpen officiating.
