Saddened to learn of Coach Weiner's passing. It was around 1951 that he and his wife came to Kings Mountain, NC where he became head coach for the KMHS football team. My dad sold the couple new furniture and I assisted in delivering it to their home on Meadowbrook Road which was the town's newest subdivision, Crescent Hill. That year I was playing 9th grade football so was not on his team but I was in his PE class where he enjoyed pitching his "old blooper" during softball games. After breaking my collar bone he visited with our family and put his autograph on my cast. Coach Weiner stayed one year in Kings Mountain and I only got to speak with him on two occasions thereafter. The first was when I had a job interview at Burlington Industries in Greensboro and the second was at the funeral service of Charlie Justice. I'll always remember him as a very genuine coach and teacher who had a special zest for living.

We would like to express our condolences to Art's family.
We saw both Art and Boots at the last UNC College Football reunion - I (Bob) had the pleasure of being a teammate of Art's on the 1946-1949 UNC Football teams.
Art was a great athlete, but even more; a great person and
citizen. He was a superlative representative for the University and the state of North Carolina.
With Fondest Memories,

Dear Boots and family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on the passing of my cousin, "Artie." My family and I were so sorry to learn of the sad news of his passing. Art will be greatly missed. As all who new him, we were extremely proud of his service to our country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. and his induction into both the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame. He lived a life of great achievements, most blessed of all, his life with you and your dear family. Art was a great man and we know that God has prepared a special place in heaven with Him, along with his dear parents, brother, sister and his beloved Aunt, Barbara. My Mom thought the world of Artie...sent letters and care packages to him while in the service and kept him in her prayers, always. We pray that God will bless you and grant you peace and strength.
Love, Barbara Morgan and family
