Clayton, North Carolina - Barbara Johnson Whitley, age 83, passed away on August 3, 2025. She was born January 3, 1942, to the late Chester Johnson and Lois Wall Johnson.
Barbara dedicated 42 years to her profession as a hairdresser, beginning her career at Barbara's Beauty Salon on Main Street in Wendell. In 1985, she built a shop of her own, at her home, in Archer Lodge. She was a devoted Momma to her daughter, Crystal, and her cats. She enjoyed travelling, especially to the beach or mountains with Crystal, and loved cooking for friends and family. All of Crystal's friends referred to her as "Momma". She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church, where she found joy in singing in the choir.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Crystal Ann Whitley.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby S. Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale.
The family will receive friends and family prior to the service, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, at the funeral home.
A private burial will take place at a later date at White Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
