Becky Verrone Obituary
Becky Salisbury Verrone
February 2, 1972 - August 11, 2025
Florence, Alabama - Becky Verrone, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully August 11, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of joy, strength, and unwavering love.
From the moment she could walk, Becky was singing, dancing, and lighting up every room she entered. She began dancing at the age of 3 and remained with the Rainbow Dance Company until she turned 18. That early passion for creativity and expression remained a hallmark of who she was throughout her life.
A dedicated and hardworking student, Becky spent two formative years at Guilford College on a dance scholarship before transferring to and graduating from Wake Forest University. She remained a proud and loyal Demon Deacon for life. Becky later earned her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) from UNC, channeling her love for children into a meaningful career helping young ones find their voices.
Becky was a cherished member of the Epworth Heights summer community, serving as a Peanut leader (children ages 6 to 8) for several summers and was elected Queen in 1990. Epworth was her happy place. Her favorite days were spent sitting on the cottage front porch joking and chatting, catching up with lifelong friends, picking blueberries, and getting blue moon ice cream from the Coffee Shop with her beloved daughter, Caroline.
Her colorful, happy personality found its way into everything she touched, turning even the simplest get-together into a color-coordinated celebration. Funny and quick-witted, Becky was the kind of person who made any room brighter and every person feel more loved. She made and kept friends everywhere she went. Whether she was laughing through an impromptu road trip, supporting her nieces and nephews at school and sporting events, or working tirelessly with children as an SLP, Becky gave her whole heart to everything she touched. She was everybody's cheerleader.
Her greatest pride and joy was being a mom. She loved nothing more than watching Caroline embrace an activity she so loved herself, dance, finding joy and making countless friends along the way.
To know Becky was to be celebrated, uplifted, and seen. She battled cancer with inspiring determination and courage. Her light and relentless optimism continue to shine in every life she touched. She will be forever missed and forever remembered.
Becky is survived by her daughter and best friend, Caroline, her mother Ann, her two brothers Jeff (Kristin) and Tyler (Carrie), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as dear friends in Florence, Alabama who universally adored her.
Details about a celebration of her life will be shared when arrangements are complete. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epworth Church Association, 1161 North Lakeshore Drive, Ludington, MI 49431, in support of the new Peanut play area (put "Peanut Space" on the memo line).
