Lillington
Benta Carol Upchurch Goss, 49, passed away on Saturday December 23, 2017. A native of Wake County, she is the daughter of Larry Upchurch and the late Carolyn Currin Upchurch.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Union Christian Church, Lillington. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park, Lillington.
Benta is survived by her husband, Robert Goss; daughters, Emily Beck and husband, Brian of Fredericksburg, VA., Kendal Fisher and husband, Coleman of Moyock, NC., Tiffany Goins and husband, Andy of Chesapeake, VA; sons, Jon Goss and fiancé, Tina Capentieri of VA, Nick Goss of Houston TX, Ryan Goss of Stafford VA; brother, Stewart Upchurch of Lillington; sister, Samantha Pech and husband, Andy of Stevens Point, WI; brother, Mathew Ropchak and wife, Amanda; grandmother, Evelyn Upchurch of Lillington; stepmother, Joan Upchurch of Lillington; grandchildren, Raleigh, Jackson, Cole, Addison, Clare, Anthony, and Ethan.
In addition to her mother, Benta is preceded in death by her grandparents, Edith and Grady Currin, and Norcott Ray Upchurch.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.

I had only become friends with Benta for a few months. We spent Thanksgiving together and I got to meet her beautiful daughter, son in law and grandbabies along with Robert. What a wonderful addition they were to our family gathering. They had become great neighbors to my son and his family and I just heard over and over what a wonderful couple they were. How true that was and my own grand children loved her too. What a cook she was as she arrived with not one dish but possibly 10+ to Thanksgiving.....we told her she did not need to bring anything since Robert was preparing a fried turkey. Learning of her surgery and complications was hard to bare but learning of her passing has left a mark on our hearts like we have not felt in a very long time. I am struggling to find the words to even express the loss we feel yet we know Roberts and her family is even greater. Please know we feel blessed to have had her in our lives even though it was for such a short time. She will always be remembered in so many great ways!
