August 15, 1940 - September 27, 2023
New Hill, North Carolina - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Caroline Hurst Truelove on September 27, 2023, at the age of 83. She left us peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a battle with Dementia.
Caroline was born on August 15, 1940, to Marvin and Elizabeth Hurst in Carpenter, NC. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, "G-ma", great-grandmother, and friend. Her presence in our lives has been a source of joy, strength, and inspiration.
Caroline lived a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family, church, and friends. She was known for her amazing cooking abilities, her chicken 'n pastry, homemade yeast rolls, and banana pudding. Caroline and her husband, Harold shared their love of food with many through their catering business, Truelove Catering.
Caroline's love of music began at the tender age of 5, when she started playing the piano and could not reach the pedals. She shared her God-given talent of playing the piano for her church since age 12, and her most recent church for more than 30 years.
Caroline had a devoted career as the MBA Program Registrar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan Flagler Business School. Her love of the students there and abroad contributed to the devotion of her job. She retired in 2002 after many years of service.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Harold Ellis Truelove, her parents, Marvin and Elizabeth Hurst and her two sisters, Frances Hurst Lawrence, and Irene Hurst. She is survived by children: Annette Adair (Keith), Denise Jones (Dwight), Teresa Kelly (Marshall); grandchildren: Brent Forsythe (Amanda), Wren Forsythe (Heather), Hannah Bruce (James), Tyler Forsythe (Joanna), Austin Jones (Ashley), Adam Jones (Alyssa), Ayden Jones, Nathan Kelly (Lauren), Allira Kelly (Rex); great grandchildren: Aidan Sanborn, Cody Forsythe, Allison Grace Forsythe, Ramya Rios, Carina Cora, Orion William Forsythe, Avery Lillie Bruce and Franklin Nicholas Kelly.
Caroline cherished family above all else, and her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories.
A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Merritts Chapel United Methodist Church located at 1090 Farrington Point Road, Chapel Hill, NC. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. at Merritts Chapel United Methodist Church prior to the service.
