Cecile Tosky Obituary

Cecile Landsman Tosky

June 16, 1927 - September 18, 2016

Raleigh

Sunday, September 18th, we lost our wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Cecile "Ceil" Tosky, 89, died peacefully Sunday morning at Rex Nursing Care.

As the matriarch of the family, Ceil was a strong and educated woman. She was born in Brooklyn N.Y. The daughter of Samuel and Emma Landsman. She was educated at Brooklyn College, where she received her teaching degrees from Adelphi University. She taught many years in Merrick, N.Y., before moving to Orlando, F.L. with her beloved husband, David Tosky.

There Ceil was very active in the charitable organization of Hadassah. She loved to sing and was the choir director for her congregation Shalom of Williamsburg.

Ceil and Dave loved to travel, especially to see their daughter and her family in Israel. They also traveled extensively throughout the world and U.S. They loved to play doubles tennis together.

Twelve years ago Ceil and Dave moved to Raleigh to be closer to their family. Ceil is survived by her husband of 68 years, David Tosky, and three sons, Bernard Tosky (Connie) of Morganton, George Tosky (Ann) of Raleigh, Aaron Tosky (Mary Lee) of Hickory, and her loving daughter, Muriel Zohar, who resides in Israel.

She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Sondra Swanberg (Erik), Elena King (Nate), Benjamin Tosky (Sara), Aaron Tosky (Jennifer), Daniel Tosky, Emily Tosky, Natalie Elkaras (Yoni), and David Zohar. She was blessed with three beautiful great grandchildren, Megan Swanberg, Ethan Tosky, and David King.

We wish to thank Brookdale North Raleigh, especially Joy and Janice. Also much thanks to the staff at both Rex Hospital and Rex Rehab for tenderly caring for our mother.

A funeral service will be held in Farmingdale, N.Y., Thursday, September 22nd, 2016. Those who wish to remember Ceil with a memorial may make a donation to:

Williamsburg Hadassah is very sad to hear of Ceil's passing. She was a life member who was a past president and was always at the forefront of volunteering. She will be missed.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Ceil was like a grandmother to me during the time I knew her and I loved her dearly. She was a wonderful, loving woman whom I think about often. You all are in my prayers as you grieve.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Ceil was not only a neighbor of mine for a number of years but always had a genuine concern and caring for others in her community. She will be missed by all who knew her.
