Charles Edward Ellis, 71, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Hospice Home. He was born in Johnston County on August 21, 1944 to the late Edward Jay Ellis and Mallie Mae Benson Ellis and was the husband to Nelda Brown "Punkin" Ellis.
Charles retired after 36 years with Coca Cola and formerly worked with Lab Corp for 13 years.
Survivors other than his wife of 29 years, Nelda "Punkin" Ellis include his daughters, Jill Holland and husband, Ritchie of Garner, Keisha Johnson and husband, Teddy of Clayton; step daughter, Mindi Kimrey and husband, Lee of Graham; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; sister, Jo Ann Barbour and husband, Larry of Smithfield; half-brother, Dallas Royal and wife, Shelby of Baltimore, MD; 2 nephews; and his feline little boy, Sterling.
The celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 10, 2016 at Shallow Ford Christian Church by Rev. Steve Regan with the burial to follow in the cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship building and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shallow Ford Christian Church, 1263 Shallowford Church Road, Elon, NC 27244 or to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215. I'm so sorry to hear the passing of Mr. Charles Ellis. He was a loving person. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Charles at my job. He picked up Laboratory Specimens for my office for years. Everyday he had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. I will never forget the wonderful stories you shared with us. May you rest in Heaven. I'll be looking for you up in heaven fixing up another collectors car. I was just telling my husband Monday how much I missed you as we passed a Labcorp vehicle. I love you and thanks for all the years of being a friend to me.

RIP buddy we sure will miss your beautiful smile and that perfect hair you was a one of a kind and a very classic guy we shared some wonderful memories that we will cherish forever I know you are singing with the angels now and you are not in any pain but we will miss you because the day you died you took a piece of our hearts with you but this is not goodbye it's so long to a little while and one day we can walk all over heaven with you I'm looking forward to that day it will be a happy reunion and you were loved by so many people but we will survive and life goes on so take care my friend until we get there love you Charles.
