August 21, 1965 - July 23, 2025
Cedar Grove, North Carolina - David Paschall Olive, 59, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet strength.
David was born on August 21, 1965, in Durham, North Carolina, to Julian and Martha Olive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Martha, his brother Julian Gray Olive Jr, and his sister Martha Loren Olive. Though he faced profound loss in his life, David's spirit remained rooted in family and the joy they brought him.
He is survived by his two sons, Alex and Cody, who were the pride and joy of his life. David loved them deeply and took great pride in the men they became. Alex and his wife Alexis blessed him with four cherished granddaughters: Olivia, Charlotte, Amelia, and Hazel. Cody and his wife Celina gave him another precious granddaughter, Elliana. David adored his grandchildren they were the light of his life and he treasured every moment spent with them.
David also leaves behind his special friend, Wendula Hildreth, whose companionship and support brought comfort and happiness in his later years. He also shared a close bond with many cousins, who were like siblings to him and remained an important part of his life.
A 1983 graduate of Jordan High School in Durham, David made lifelong friendships there and began shaping the strong work ethic that would carry him through life. After graduation, he worked as an electrician for most of his life, a trade he took great pride in and through which he built strong relationships and earned deep respect from those around him.
In 2018, David made the courageous decision to get sober. From that point forward, he dedicated his life to helping others on their own path to recovery. His compassion, honesty, and unwavering support made a lasting impact on countless lives, and he was a source of hope and strength in the recovery community.
A man of quiet dignity, humor, and steady presence, David will be remembered for the love he poured into his family and the strength with which he met life's challenges. His legacy will live on through the generations he helped shape and the memories he gifted to those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Trailhead Church in Graham, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial contributions to be made in David's honor to Fellowship Hall Rehabilitation Center, 5140 Dunstan Road, Greensboro, NC 27405.
