Dorothy Caulder Obituary

Dorothy “Dot” Mangum Caulder, 80, of Burlington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, January 2nd, 2011, after three months of failing health.
A native of Wake County, she was the wife of the late David Lane Caulder, who were happily married for 50 years, and the daughter of Rufus Harold Mangum and Nell Boyd Mangum, both deceased. At age 24, she began working at Alamance Drug. In 1958, she was employed at Medical Village Apothecary, and was a dedicated employee for W. S. Garner for 56 years. She was a member of Glencoe Baptist Church and was a member of the Alamance County Democratic Party and the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by one brother, Mr. Harvey Joe Mangum of Rolesville, NC; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion Solomon. She was predeceased by two sisters, Carolyn Mathews and Peggy Williams and one brother, Donald Mangum.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 at Glencoe Baptist Church with Pastor Darrell Massey officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:45 – 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Glencoe Baptist Church, c/o New Building Fund, 2556 Glencoe Street, Burlington, NC 27217 and/or Hospice of Alamance/Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
Mrs. Caulder’s family and friends would like to extend a special thanks to The Visiting Angels, and caregivers including her church family, Hospice, and her dear friend, Frances Curtis.
