Eugene Franklin Obituary
July 17, 1937 - November 25, 2021
Raleigh, North Carolina - Eugene "Gene" Keith Franklin, 84, of Raleigh NC, suddenly and peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, surrounded by family.
Gene was born to the late Henry Bland "Buster" Franklin and late Mary "Wava" Franklin on July 17, 1937, in Raleigh NC. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Hilda Franklin. He also leaves behind his brother David Franklin and his sister-in-law Theresa Franklin, his son Brian Franklin and daughter-in-law Fernanda Franklin, his daughter Karen Carter, his grandsons Caleb Franklin, Jared Carter, and Gabriel Floresta, his granddaughters Rachel Franklin and Marie Carter, and many extended family members and friends.
Gene graduated from Cary High School and Wake Forest University. After almost 40 years, he retired from the NC DOT. He spent many years as an active member of Ephesus Baptist Church, the Cary IMP Club, and the Exchange Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an avid Wake Forest fan.
Family will receive friends on Monday, November 29th from 1-2 pm at Ephesus Baptist Church. Funeral Services will begin at 2 pm at the church with interment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. A Reception will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home afterwards, adjacent to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ephesus Baptist Church - 6767 Hillsborough Street - Raleigh, NC 27606.

Karen, Sad to hear of your father´s passing but I was reminded of the summer when your parents let me babysit for you and how much fun I had with you. I wanted to tell you that I am so grateful to your Dad and Mom for trusting me with you! Your family will always be a Shinning Example of Cristian Love!

We have been neighbors with Gene and Hilda for the past 20 years. They are both just absolutely wonderful individuals. We could not have asked for better neighbors. Gene loved to walk around the neighborhood for exercise, and he always made it a point to stop by for a chat. He was always interested in what we were up to--whether it was marching band, piano or dance lessons. Gene always remembered and asked about it. He also just absolutely loved to talk about his grandchildren. He would give us the latest news. He was so proud of his family--you could just tell that about him. He was such a kind and gentle person. We will miss him so very-very much. Prayers and peace to Hilda and the entire Franklin family. God bless all of you.

So sorry to know that Gene has left us. He was such a good family member and friend. We shared many great memories and good times playing together on Jones Franklin road as youngster...riding bikes, playing ball and jumping out of the hayloft and even hide and go seek. We were buddies back then. He will be missed.
