Everett "Russell" Holden

Raleigh, North Carolina - Russell, 87, entered into the presence of the Lord on August 29, 2021. He was born in Wake County to Willie Columbus Holden and Allie Mae Poole Holden. He was a member of Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church. Russell worked for Long Meadow Milk Company and then went to work for Newcomb & Company. Newcomb was not hiring at the time he inquired about a job. He told owner Bo Newcomb "I'll work for two weeks without pay; and if you don't like my job performance, then you don't have to hire me." He worked for Newcomb 45 years. After retiring Russell was a dedicated husband to his wife Jane, caring for her with dementia until her passing in 2019. Russell loved his family, working outside, carpentry work, and planting gardens. He was truly a Jack of all Trades and "Master of ALL." He was known to family and friends for his delicious barbecue chicken and "do the job right the first time" motto. He was a true "Help Desk" with whatever problems we encountered, including mechanical, electrical, water, building and so much more.
Russell is survived by his son Wayland Holden (Laura), daughter Teresa Holden, granddaughter Marcie Holden, grandson Neil Holden (Caitlin), great grandson Wylder Holden, great granddaughters Tatum Holden and Addison Lawhorn, and sister Vannie Bunn.
He was preceded in death by wife Jane B. Holden and brother Rufus Wade "RW" Holden.
An informal celebration of Russell's life will be held in the ROC at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church, 3328 Forestville Road, Raleigh, NC, on Saturday, September 11, 2021, between 10:00 - 12:00.
