Fred Gore Obituary

Fred LeFone Gore

August 3, 1953-August 17, 2020

Cary

Fred LeFone Gore Jr., age 67 of Cary, North Carolina peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 17th, 2020. Fred displayed an incredible capacity to listen to others, give unconditionally, and humbly love his family and friends. After working 35 years in the metal industry, Fred retired and spent his time painting, running in his Luna sandals, playing the guitar, and working in the garden.

Fred was married to and is survived by his bride, Kaye of 43 years. He is also survived by his daughters, Serra Gore and Hannah Yanik (Michael) and his sister Brenda Perrill (Peter).

Known as an extraordinary husband, father, brother, friend, and co-worker, Fred lived and breathed kindness to others. He will forever be remembered by his calming presence, generous heart, and clever sense of humor.

Fred's family would like to thank Duke Cancer Center, Transitions LifeCare, and the Glenridge neighborhood community.

In lieu of flowers and in the spirit of giving like Fred so often did, donations in his honor can be made to Arts for Life https://www.artsforlifenc.org/donate/.

I was lucky to get to know Fred through many after work get-togethers and through stories shared by Kaye at work. Fred was such an amazing person, inspiring all of us to live our life to the fullest. I will always think of Fred when I have salad in the morning for breakfast...one of the many new ideas he introduced to me. Fred had such an inviting, easy-going personality. He always put me at ease when talking with him in crowd. I will miss him.

I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Fred at Metals USA. There are not enough words to express what an exceptional man Fred was. While he was a professional, he was also kind, generous, caring and a wonderful friend. Fred loved his family and would light up when talking about Kaye or the girls. He would tell of their adventures and even play recordings of their musical talents. At work, we affectionally called him "Freddie G" (as in Kenny G, the saxophone player). Fred loved his outdoor adventures and we loved hearing about them. He will always hold a special place in our hearts and our lives are better because we knew him as a great friend and co-worker. Fred will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Kaye and Family,

Working with Kaye I got to meet Fred on brief occasions over the years. More recently Fred would join our Thursday after work gatherings at RBC where some of us might enjoy an adult beverage. I enjoyed Fred's positive attitude and boundless smile. I know you will miss him dearly as all who knew Fred. I didn't know Fred long but when around him it seemed like we were old friends.

Fred's struggle with his disease taught us how to live. His memory will always be a blessing.

Fred you will be missed and always remembered by all of us at Gulfstream Steel. If anyone could be called a professional in his industry and a complete gentlemen you were that man. We shared many good laughs and drinks together over the years! You always went above and beyond to take care of us even when we were your smallest customer at Reynolds Aluminum. Thank you for all the good times and memories- may you rest in peace.
