- Glenna Daniel- Nyreen, 78, died Saturday, October 27th in Raleigh.
She was born in the Sims community of Wilson County to Zilphia and Clarence Finch
.Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Richard Stone at Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, 401 N. Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson.
Glenna retired from the Wilson County School System following a 20 year career teaching sixth grade. Prior to a brief illness, she was an active volunteer at Windsor Point Retirement Community. She was a faithful volunteer in the life of Methodist churches in Sims, Middlesex, Wilson, and Fuquay-Varina serving as pianist, organist, teacher, leader, and mentor to many. She generously gave of her time baking and caring for others in every community in which she lived. She was Mema, Gramma, and Granny to eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Doting on her grandchildren was her favorite pastime. In addition, she enjoyed flower gardening, walking, music, and her many friends.
Glenna was married to Albert Lealon Daniel for 55 years. Together they raised their three children, Lynn, Gary, and Donna in Sims and lived there until 2003, when they moved to Fuquay-Varina. Albert died in December 2003. In the summer of 2006, Glenna met Donald Nyreen. They married February 10, 2007, surrounded by their families and many friends. While their time together was brief, it was filled with much love and many special times.
Glenna is survived by her husband, Don; her children Lynn Daniel and wife, Laura, of Charlotte, Gary Daniel and wife, Marsha, of Apex, Donna Agnew and husband, Andy, of Jackson, TN; niece, Patsy Johnson and husband, Howard, of Cary; grandchildren, Sarah, Max Daniel, Kelsey, Tucker Daniel, Riann Lucas, Abby and Maggie Agnew, Patrick Johnson; great- grand child Emma Page Jones; brother, Clarence Finch and wife, Carol, of Ankeny, IA.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, at Windsor Point Retirement Community, 1221 Broad Street, Fuquay-Varina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society.
