James B. Forcum Jr.

James B. Forcum, Jr., age 89 of Wilmington passed away, Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Davis Health Care Center.
He was born in City Point, VA on June 6, 1918 to the late James B. Forcum, Sr. and Lura B. Dowdy Forcum. Remembered is his wife of 52 years, Rachel Petree Forcum who passed away on March 31, 2000 and his sister Marguerite Whetstone.
Jim was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church and was retired from the US Customs office in Wilmington after 37 years of service. He was a WWII veteran having participated in the D-Day invasion as a member of the US Army 90th Division. He attended the National School of the Arts in Washington, DC. Jim was a talented artist and his paintings are cherished by family members. Jim was an active mall walker in Wilmington.
Jim is survived by three children, Rebecca Forcum Laws and husband, Howard, James M. Forcum, and wife, Susan and Robert B. Forcum and wife, Linda; seven grandchildren, Ashton George, Stuart Laws, Lura Forcum, Marshall Forcum, Christopher Forcum, Adam Forcum, Abby Forcum; one great granddaughter, Emily George; sister, Frances Forcum of Pittsboro, NC; a brother, Robert L. Forcum of Belews Creek, NC; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Temple Baptist Church by Rev. E. C. Mattocks. The family will receive friends at the church parlor from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall, NC.
