James Mccallum Obituary

James Morris McCallum, 83, of 607 Henderson Street, Hamlet, died Thursday, May 30, 2002 atFirst Health Richmond Memorial. He was born November 23, 1918 in Montgomery County, NC. To the late Edward G. McCallum and Florence Morris McCallum. He is preceded in death by a son Craig Eugene McCallum.
Mr. McCallum served in the U.S. Army AirCorps during WWII, and was a retired Captain in the reserve. He was a Retired Engineer with Seaboard Coastline Railroad, and a member of the United Transportation Union. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church, Hamlet Masonic Lodge 532 A.F. & A.M. for 50 years, Charlotte Scottish Rites, Oasis Shrine Temple and Hamlet American Legion for 59 years. He was an avid gardener.
Memorial services will be held, at 1 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2002, at First Presbyterian Church in Hamlet, with Rev. Shirley Hutchins officiating. There will be a private Committal Service.
Survivors: wife, Helen Craig McCallum of Hamlet; one daughter, Sondra McCallum Cooke and husband, Alfred of Raleigh; two sons, James Morris McCallum, Jr. and wife Donna of Raleigh, Donald Bruce McCallum and wife Peggy of Hamlet; and daughter-in-law, Bobbie McCallum of Rutherfordton; nine grandchildren, Donna Lisa McLaren, Debra Lynne Kunttu, James Morris McCallum, III, Lauren Rene McCallum Fyfe and husband, Robert, Richard Francis McCallum, Constance McCallum Engl and husband Thomas, Donald Bruce McCallum, Jr., Lindsay Magan McCallum, David Morris McCallum and wife Dana; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew Alan Horney, John Stephen Horney, Elizabeth Adair Horney, David Alexander Kunttu, Jessica Lynne Kunttu, Thomas Francis Engl, III, Madison Gabriel Engl, Tiffany McCallum.
Visitationwill be held at First Presbyterian Church thirty minutes before service.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to First Presbyterian Church Stain Glass Window Fund, 200 Rice Street, Hamlet, NC 28345.
Watson-King FuneralHome in Hamlet is serving the McCallum Family.
