Jerry Narron Obituary

Dr. Jerry Martin Narron, 67, of Raleigh, passed away from us into the arms of Jesus on Thursday night, July 12, 2007 at Rex Hospital. Jerry was well known and loved in the Wake and Johnston County communities. A graduate of Corinth-Holders High School class of 1957, Jerry received a B.S. in Chemistry from Atlantic Christian (Barton) College in Wilson in 1960 and his Masters and Doctorate in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University in 1980. Jerry taught social sciences as an adjunct professor for Shaw University, Campbell University, and Wake Technical Community College after his retirement from the State Department of Health and Human Services in the Spring of 2002. His passion was painting and pen and ink drawings, and he spent much of his time sketching and painting landscapes, local sites, and family images. He was a member of Sertoma Artists' Association and enjoyed showcasing his talents in local art galleries and exhibit shows. He also enjoyed music, especially J.S. Bach organ pieces. Jerry spent most of his retirement days having morning coffee with friends, visiting with family, and thrift shopping/yard sales. He and his wife enjoyed eating out, traveling, holding hands, and spending time together. He was a regular attendee at New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Faye Holden Narron; daughters, Jackie Montgomery and husband, Joey of Wendell and Becky Graves and husband, Brad of Rogers, AR; precious grandsons, Nathan (8), Noah (8), Joshua (3), and a 4th grandchild due in September; brother, Hester Narron of Inman, SC, and aunts, Polly Johnson, Aline Jones, Wallace Godwin, and Mary Lee Maddox, all of Middlesex, and uncle, Bill O'Neal of Clayton.

Dearest Faye (my kindred spirit), Becky, Brad, Nathan, Noah, Jacky, Joey, and Joshua. My heart aches for you as you say good-bye to Jerry's physical presence here on earth. Praise God for His merciful plan through Jesus that we will see him again. When you think of Jerry in the arms of Jesus, you rejoice, but your human selves long for him, I know. I long to be with you, and I look forward to a sweet visit next week. I love you all, Lynn Guthrie

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of this sweet and extremely talented man. I will miss his cheery, friendly manner at art class. He was always there with an encouraging word or suggestion to help us with our projects.. We loved his colorful style and will miss him so very much! Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Faye, and all the family in this saddest of times...
