He was a member of White Stone Masonic Lodge No. 155. Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved parents J. Roy Joyner and Helen Baker Joyner and sister Betty Joyner Crandell. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth T. Joyner and family Mary Lib Brannan, Andy Brannan, Melissa Brannan, Brett Fielding, Milton Brannan, Samantha Jones, Anna Stott, Nancy Joyner, Clay Smith, Jamison Smith, Jean Williams, Richard Joyner, Bonnie Joyner, Clifton Crandell, Joe Temple, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. I remember him cooking those shoulders for the fall festive and working at the church. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow. love to you Mary. I miss you.

To Ruth and family, I am so sorry to hear that Jimmy passed. He was also so kind to my dad and I. I know that daddy enjoyed visiting with the two of you and you were both so kind to bring his pocket knife to me after he passed. I still have the poem that grandmother Christine wrote. I appreciate all that the two of you have done to help me learn more about the Hales family.

Mrs Ruth Joyner, Richard, & your Families, Please know how sad I was
last night, when Jimmy’s passing away was told to me. When we all were
growing up working summers in tobacco, Jimmy was always the hardest worker. He was the first of our farm neighbors to graduate from N.C. State, after Rodney Bell, and he enjoyed a fine career either N.C. D.O.T. Jimmy will be sincerely missed by Family, neighbors, and friends. We always appreciated his visits and wisdom. Please know that all of you
will be in our prayers for the loss of Jimmy. Our sincere sympathies,
