John Viverette Obituary

John Edward Viverette, Sr, 87, went to his new home in heaven Friday, July 31, 2009. He was born March 12, 1922, son of the late Noah and Josephine Viverette. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise G. Viverette, sons, John E. Viverette Jr. and David Michael Viverette, and twelve brothers and sisters. John was a retired train conductor that led an active life after retirement. He was a member of the Rocky Mount Singles Club and the 50+ Club. He was a member of the Wilson Shrine Club, The Masonic Lodge, and American Legion Post 58. He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Ann (Troy) Shearin of Conway SC, Donna V. Gowen and Paula Viverette of the home; two sons, Scott Viverette of Sharpsburg, Brian (Tammy) Viverette of Rocky Mount; granddaughter, Aimee Viverette of Sharpsburg; grandsons, Anthony, Andrew, and Jason (Carrie) Shearin, David and Joshua Viverette, Christopher (Elizabeth) Viverette, Steven Viverette; step-grandson, Michael Whitman. John is also survived by great-grandchildren, Dalton Viverette, Carson Viverette, Ivy Lynn Shearin, Troy and Zoe Shearin plus a host of nieces and nephews. John will be remembered by his many friends including special friends, Betty Bullock, Lib Taylor, and Otis Ferebee. He will be especially missed by his beloved cats, Earl, Fred, and Shauna. Visitation with friends and relatives will be 7:00-8:30 pm Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor and remember John will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Noah Joyner officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to Friends of Hospice of Nash General, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount NC, 27804, or The Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St, Oxford NC, 27565, or Shriners Childrens Hospital Fund, P.O. Drawer 490, New Bern NC, 28563. Arrangements by Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount, NC.
