Joseph Philibert Lorio

Joseph Philibert Lorio, MD, died Thursday afternoon, August 16, 2007, at Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk VA, at the age of 65. Dr. Joseph "Phil" Lorio was a resident of Carrboro, NC since his retirement in 2001. Previously he had been a resident of Fairfax, VA and a practicing psychiatrist in Falls Church, VA. He was on the faculty of The Georgetown Family Center, in Washington, DC for many years.
Phil Lorio was a native of New Roads LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Pujo Lorio and Udell Jewell Lorio.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeanne Genre Lorio; his children, Dr. William P. Lorio and his wife, Amy Lorio, Renee Lorio Murphy, and her husband, Sean Murphy; four grandchildren, Conner and Claire Murphy, Benjamin and Caroline Lorio; a sister, Jewell Rose Lorio; a brother, Samuel Paul Lorio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the visitation on Thursday, August 23rd, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Walker's Funeral Home, 102 West Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 24th, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 940 Carmichael Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
