Keith Ferrell Obituary

Keith L. Ferrell

February 8, 1952 - July 21, 2024

Clayton, North Carolina - L. Keith Ferrell, 72, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2024 with his daughter by his side.

A visitation and service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024 at the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel in Clayton. Reverend Dr. Mark White will be officiating. The family will receive friends at 4:15 p.m. at Monti Hall immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held the next day at Maplewood Cemetery.

He was born in Clayton on February 8, 1952 to the late L. Leyburn Ferrell and Mattie Snead Ferrell. He attended Clayton High School, graduated class of 1970. He participated in productions with the Raleigh Little Theater and Theater in the Park. After graduation, he attended Lees- McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. Throughout his life, Keith was involved in many bands playing the electric guitar and was called to emcee various town events.

Active and passionate about his community and the town of Clayton, he was the Clayton Chamber of Commerce President and received the Paul Harris Fellow award with Clayton Rotary where he also was President. He also was a charter member of the Clayton Jaycees and was on many planning boards for the Town of Clayton and on the Board of Directors for Johnston Co. United Way. He not only served his hometown, but in addition served his home church, First Baptist Church as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.

Keith was also involved in real estate starting Ferrell Real Estate in the late '70-80s with his father and mother, and then it evolved into Re/Max United of Clayton. He and his family developed Landmark Subdivision, building and selling homes for decades.

Although his real zest for life was listening to live music from local festivals to New Orleans juke joints, he also loved to stay close as long as he got to go out to eat. With a positive, enthusiastic, passionate personality, he always made everyone feel special.

He is survived by his only child, Sierra Ferrell Fulton (Greg) of Jackson, Wyoming as well as his sister Sandra Ferrell Smith (Jess) of Corvallis, Oregon and two grandsons Oliver and Riley Fulton.

The family is grateful for the care he received from Warm Valley Assisted Living in Dubois, WY as well as The Sublette Center in Pinedale, WY. The family would also like to thank his friends for all their love and support. Granddaddy Keith will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church Senior Fund.

McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton is honored to be assisting the family.
