Kittie McKinney Obituary

Kittie McKinney
March 2, 1949 - November 21, 2021
Raleigh, North Carolina - Kittie Elizabeth McKinney passed away at home on November 21, 2021, surrounded by those who love her. Kittie was born in Washington, DC on March 2, 1949. She graduated from North Forsythe High School in Winston Salem, NC in 1967. She graduated from Wake Technical Community College in 1968 with a certificate in Practical Nursing and worked as an LPN until her cancer diagnosis in February of 2021 – 53 years! She spent her life caring for others and she is cherished by both patients and co-workers.
Kittie loved watching basketball, animals of all kinds (especially cats, dogs, and elephants), dog sitting, the beach, and The Andy Griffith Show. More than anything she loved The Grands: Isaac, Elaina, Sam and Katie. Kittie was adventurous and lived life to the fullest. She became a certified scuba diver in her 40's and travelled to Africa twice when she was in her 70's. She was fun to be around and had a great sense of humor.
Kittie was devoted to her family and friends. Whether it be easy or hard, she always SHOWED UP. Kittie was preceded in death by her father Horace "Bones" McKinney, mother Edna Ruth Stell McKinney, brother Kenneth "Zeke" McKinney, niece Sarah McKinney, and nephew Michael McKinney. She will be missed by her son John (Jennifer), daughter Elizabeth, siblings Al (Emily), Kay, Karen, Katrina (John), Kenneth's wife Mary, The Grands and many nieces and nephews.
Kittie's favorite hymn was "Softly and Tenderly", which is fitting, because Kittie is finally home. There will be a memorial service for Kittie on Saturday January 8, 2022, at 11:00am in the gym at North Ridge Bible Chapel, 7100 Harps Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615.

I never had the privilege of meeting Kittie in person but I felt like i knew her through John and Jennifers blog. She is with her Lord now and rejoicing in His presence. Love and comfort to the family.
