Lionel Joachim Gaudin, Jr.

Lionel Joachim Gaudin, Jr, beloved husband of Judy Pittman Gaudin for 46 years passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 14, 2011 at the age of 69. He is also survived by his daughter Kim McShea and her husband Bill McShea, grandchildren Matthew and Shannon McShea of Springfield, VA, and his daughter Karen Hornick and grandchildren Brandon and Haylee Hornick of Albuquerque NM. Lionel was preceded in death by his parents Lionel J Gaudin, Sr. and Inez Gaudin, and his sister Suzanne Gros. Lionel was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1965. He began his lifelong career with IBM in the Human Resources department in 1966. IBM moved Lionel and his family several times - Huntsville, Alabama; Owego, New York; Gaithersburg, Maryland; Manassas, Virginia, before his final move to Raleigh, NC in 1984 where he worked until his retirement in 1996.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass in Celebration of his Life on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 4:00PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road in Raleigh. Visitation will begin at 2:30PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rex Healthcare Foundation, designating Floor 5 East or Hospice of Wake County. Donations to Rex Healthcare Foundation may be made online at www.rexhealth.com/foundation or mailed to Rex Healthcare Foundation, 4420 Lake Boone Trail, Raleigh, NC 27607. Donations to Hospice of Wake County can be made online at www.hospice ofwake.org or mailed to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

I was saddened to read of Lionel's passing. I knew Lionel through bowling on the Wednesday Night Men's League. Our teams always had a fun night when we bowled one another or played cards. He was a fun person and friend for all of us. He will remain in my thoughts forever.
