Lois Fuquay- Obituary

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 4 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 402 North Main Street for Lois Frazelle Johnson, who died Friday, June 1 in Raleigh. A private burial will follow atthe Jones-Johnson family cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson spent her youth in Richlands before moving with her family to Raleigh. She was a graduate of St. Mary's College.
Lois became widely known and is still remembered for the WPTF Radio program she hosted for Eckerds Pharmacy, where she worked prior to and shortly after her marriage to William W. Johnson.
Followingher marriage and move to Fuqay-Varina, Lois pursued family, church and community activities. She taught Sunday School for more than 20 years, and was a life member of the United Methodist Women. She was active in the Fuquay-Varina Woman's Club, schooland PTA activities. Mrs. Johnson was one of the first women ever to serve on a local school board in Wake County.
Later in life, Lois pursued a hobby gift shop, The Log Cabin, and flower arranging. She often surprised family, friends, and newcomers to Fuquay-Varina with flower arrangements or gifts from her shop.
Since 1997, she resided at Sunrise of Raleigh.
She will be remembered for her beauty, grace and hospitality.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in deathby a daughter, Joanna Johnson Proctor. Mrs. Johnson is survived by daughters, Leigh J. Cameron of Fuquay-Varina, Jerry J. Soechting and husband, John of Minneapolis, MN: sisters, Florence Phillips of Cary, Helen Marchese of Raleigh, Sarah Larkin of Arlington, Va. and Vivian Bailey of Winston-Salem; son-in-law, Phillip T. Proctor of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, David and Ward Proctor of Fuquay-Varina, Jennie P. Joiner of Gibsonville; 5 great grandchildren.
