Louise Pharr Obituary

Louise York Pharr went home to be with her Lord on September 10, 2010. She was born in 1918 in Surry County, near Mount Airy, and lived in Raleigh almost 50 years.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Arthur L. Pharr of Wilkesboro, NC, whom she met at Appalachian State College; her children, Allen Pharr and his wife, Brownlee, Daniel Pharr, and Ann Pharr Rhodes and her husband, Van; her four grand children, Yorke Pharr and his wife, Amy, Kathryn Pharr, Joan Pharr, and Andrew Pharr; and two great-grandchildren, Zackary and Louisa Pharr. The loves of her life were her husband and children, and especially her grandchildren. A former elementary school teacher, she loved all children. Her special interests were her antiques business, her church, First Presbyterian of Raleigh, and the friendships and fellowship there, and her dear friends in her bridge and book clubs.
She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Wesley Allen York, John Davis York, Cleo York, Leo York Norman, and Estelle York Wrenn.
She is also survived by her wonderful nieces and nephews, Frances Reid, Carolyn Durham, Elizabeth Enstam, Nancy Montgomery, Robert Wrenn, John York, Joseph York, Rev. David Pharr and Rev. Claude Pharr.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Baucom Parlor. A private family burial will be at Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 120 W. Hargett Street, Raleigh, NC 27601.
