Lucy Faison Obituary

Lucy Jones Faison, of 176 Hales Store Road, died early Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Rex Healthcare after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Lucy was born January 1, 1937 in Wake County to Nora Beatrice Wall Jones and the late Grover Cleveland Jones. She graduated from Knightdale High School in 1955 and on December 1, 1956 Lucy married the love of her life, Ronald Willard Faison, Sr. Together they formed Ron’s Auction & Realty Company, Inc. Lucy was the CEO, Secretary-Treasurer, and Manager of this company. She served as President of the Auctioneers Association of North Carolina Auxiliary as well as President of the National Auctioneers Association Auxiliary. Through these organizations, she was inducted into both the North Carolina and National Hall of Fame. She and Ron traveled far and wide and made numerous friends through the auctioneers’ functions. Lucy was devoted to her immediate family as well as the large Jones and Wall families in the Knightdale area. Lucy and Ron are very active members of Zebulon Baptist Church. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Zebulon Baptist Church, 400 N. Arendell Avenue, Zebulon, NC 27597, with Reverend Jack Glasgow officiating. Entombment, Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, the Faison Mausoleum, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Surviving is her devoted and caring husband, Ronald Willard Faison, Sr.; daughter, Ronda Faison Sorrell and her husband, Larry of Zebulon; son, Ronald Willard “Ron” Faison, Jr. and his wife, Brittany of Seaford, DE; grandchildren, Whitney Sorrell, Lindsey Sorrell, Jerron Faison, and Logan Faison; step-granddaughter, Brittany Abbott; mother, Beatrice W. Jones of Wendell; sister, Barbara Jones Farrington and her husband, Floyd of Wendell; brother, Paul Jones and his wife, Peggy of Wendell; and a host of special cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Lucy was preceded in death by her father, Grover Cleveland Jones, her brothers, Phillip Jones and David Jones. The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2009 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545, and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Zebulon Baptist Church Building Fund, 400 N. Arendell Avenue, Zebulon, NC 27597.
