I think of Mabel each time I pass her home. She was a dear friend and welcomed me and my dog Charlie to her home and her heart. Tutu and Diva were her constant companions. Diva was with her until her passing. She was a wonderful women and thinking of her always makes me smile.

Our mother (Billie Emmons) loved Mabel Duke. As you may know Mom passed away on February 8. I know you are grieving the loss of a wonderful mother, but I hope you can be encouraged, as we are, to know that both our mothers are with the Lord and hopefully enjoying a wonderful reunion - it may even include horses:) With prayers for His comfort at this time, Susan Emmons Hatfield

Hardy,
Patsy and I are sad to hear about the loss of your mother. She was a very special person and touched a lot of people in a positive way. Patsy and I have fond memories of the friendship we shared with you and your family in the late 60's and early 70's. With our son Davy, our favorite place to go was Hardy's Farm. Davy wore his cowboy boots proud (just like you)! We are thinking about you and your family during this difficult time. Take care.

To all of the Family I submit to you my most sincere prayers and condolences. Mabel Duke was and forever will be in my heart a supporter and mentor to me since she came to see me after my second baby was born,(he is now 22) I had a stroke and she was my Caregiver. That bond we had just held onto forever. She is an amazing Woman and God has an awesome Angel Home. Blessings to all of you during this time. You will be lifted up in my prayers.

Hardy, Steve and Mabel Duke, I am so very saddened by your mother's death. Thinking about her today has brought back a flood of wonderful memories of days spent with her and all of you at the farm. I don't believe that I've ever known anyone more elegant or more wise. She was as good at keeping a confidence as she was at keeping everyone in line. I'll truly miss her and extend my warmest wishes and sympathies to all of you.

To Mabel Duke's sons, daughter, and especialoly to dear Ellie: How sad is our neighborhood in the loss of our dear friend and neighbor! She was indeed a blessing to each of us as she walked each morning and at each house she passed, she called us by name as she asked God to bless us. We grieve with you in the loss of this gracious lady. Marion and Dorothy Petty, Turnbridge Dr.

Your mother was the dearest and most gracious person I've ever known. She had a deep and abiding faith which gave her strength throughout her life.

I meet your mother walking Diva and Tutu. She and my dog Charlie were great friends. Please pet TuTu for me.

E,

I am so happy that my friend is with Jesus and sad for your loss. Words cannot describe what an angel she was to me and so many others. Fridays in the church office will never be the same without her and that infectious laughter of hers. She was instrumental one year ago on Feb. 26th in a phone conversation to me at Moses Cone Hospital where I awaited GOD'S coming for my Mother. She is the person who helped me let my Mom go. I loved her very much and have missed her terribly over the last two weeks in the church office. I am a better person because of my time with her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. She will live in my heart forever.

Mabel Duke was the driving force behind 'the young adult sunday school class' that began in the early eighties at SAPC. This group, though older :-), owes much gratitude to this great lady of faith and of the church. Never did she compromise her faith for anything that this world could 'throw at her', she has always been a 'beacon' to those who were seeking the Lord. She is, 'a good and faithful servant'!
