Marjorie Morrow Obituary

Marjorie McKay Morrow, 86, passed away Friday, May 9, at her home at River Landing at Sandy Ridge.
Mrs. Morrow was born November 24, 1921, in St. Pauls, the daughter of William Archibald McKay and Evan McGirt McKay. She was valedictorian of her high school class in St. Pauls and graduated from Flora McDonald College in 1942.
Prior to marrying William Robert Morrow, Jr. in 1951, she taught elementary school in Raeford and High Point. After raising her children, she returned to the public school classroom for a decade. When her husband's eyesight failed, she assisted him in his business. She was an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church belonging to the Adult Fellowship Class for over 50 years. She taught Sunday school to both elementary and middle school children. Several summers she was a church camp counselor on the middle school retreats.
She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of High Point, a member of the Hum and Hoe Garden Club, Fortnighters Bridge Club, and the Midweek Book Club. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 57 years, William Robert Morrow, Jr. and by her two daughters and their families, Mollie Morrow Day and James M. Day of Raleigh and their children,Emily Sherrod Day, James Matthew Day, and Wesley Robert Day, Debbie Morrow Day and John M. Day of Raleigh and their children, John Michael Day, Jr. and Ashley Morrow Day. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn McGoogan of Wilson and Mt. Pleasant, SC; and her sister- in-law, Susie McKay of St. Pauls.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William A. McKay, Jr. of St. Pauls.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point.
Visitation with the family will be held after the service in the Asbury Room of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1225 Chestnut Street, High Point, NC 27262 or a charity of your choice.
Sechrest Funeral Service in High Point is serving the family.
