Wake Forest, North Carolina - Mary Taylor Ogles, 93, of Wake Forest passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023. She was born on February 22, 1930 in Somerville, Alabama. Olene was the oldest daughter of the late Edgar Taylor and Libby Dyer Taylor of Somerville, Alabama.
Olene graduated from Costco High School in Cotaco, Alabama. Olene entered business school and graduated from Albright Business College in Decatur, Alabama. Olene retired from both Monsanto and IBM.
Olene was active in her church and community. She was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Raleigh since 1972. Olene volunteered for Meals on Wheels America and was a member of the Raleigh Garden Club, the Cary Senior Center, TOPS, book clubs, in singles and directed weddings.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Sandling and husband, Bobby Franklin Sandling; granddaughter, Kelly L. Sandling; and a sister, Susan Rogers-Taylor.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Olene and I were secretaries at Monsanto at the RTP. She worked for Pat Hobson and I worked for Bill Blackburn. She was a co-worker and a very good friend. She always remembered to have a reunion of the Monsanto women at least once a year. She was at my wedding in 1998 to Al Gosztyla. She was a wonderful person. She will be missed by many.

Sincere condolences to Pam and her family.
I remember Olene fondly from my years employed at Chemstrand in the 1960s. Her office was across the hall from the research lab where I worked with Ray Kirby. She was always cheerful and offered keen insights on a mix of topics. She cherished her daughter Pam and spoke of her frequently.
We kept in touch for many decades.

We are so sorry to hear of her passing. Welsford passed away 2/10/2023 so I know they will be together talking about the old days at Monsanto. I will be thinking of all of you while you reminisce about your wonderful times.
