Melanie Haun Obituary

Melanie Bryan Haun died suddenly on October 26, 2007. She was a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and lately bead store owner.
She was born in Henderson, to the late Jimmy and Kitty Bryan on February 22, 1942.
Memorial Services will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1500 Glenwood Avenue on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service.
Melanie is survived by her husband of forty years, Harold; son, Michael and wife Tifanie of Decatur, Ga; and daughter, Kathy and husband, Wil of Raleigh.
She was a long time preschool teacher who recently developed a love for beading. She took her passion for the craft to a new level when she opened her own bead store, Bead Delight, in April 2006. While it was a strain to keep Bead Delight in operation due to health problems, she never gave up. It was in her nature to put other's needs ahead of her own. The family has decided to try to keep her dream alive and request support of Bead Delight, 1564-100 Old Wake Forest Road, in lieu of flowers.

Melanie was my Sister and I loved her very much, and although the miles had separated us, we were still Brother and Sister and I will Miss her.

I was blessed to work with Melanie intimately at Bead Delite since we opened the doors in April '06. I keep hearing her laugh echo in the store, I keep feeling like she's sneaking up on me like she always did. She stepped & spoke softly and had a generous, tender heart. I will miss her daily wisdom and good advice. Her passion will live on here at the store, she's IN every nook and cranny. As the matter of a fact, she's looking over my shoulder as I write this, pointing out any typos ;-).

Melanie... I am missing you, as sooo many others are. You changed my life, just like everyone that crossed your path. I love you, You are beautiful! Extra Gorgeous on Thursdays, when Andre did your hair!

Melanie hired me to work for her as a preschool teacher when my daughter was 4. My daughter is now 15. I've thought about her much over the years because she was so good for Ruthie. She was an extremely sweet person who was wonderful to the children she worked with. And she was a good teacher for those of us that also taught. I am so sorry for your loss of her in your family.

Harold - I am so very sorry about this. You and Melanie were the perfect couple to be looked up to. To be so together in everything you did. I did not know in enough time to attend services but I would have, please know that. You helped make her dreams come true with the store. My prayers are with you and your family.

Melanie helped me create some beautiful jewelry and she provided such a wonderful place to learn, socialize with friends and be creative. I so enjoyed the times that I spent at Bead Delight.

Melanie and I shared many wonderful times with our children during swim meets and car-pooling to swim practices. What I remember and admired most about Melanie was her soft voice and gentle spirit with the children. She shared her life with others in a very selfless way. I know she'll be missed by all who knew her.
