Topsail Beach
Melanie Branton McCormick, age 50, of Topsail Beach, NC passed away January 15 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
She was born November 18, 1965 in Sylva, NC to Charles and Delight Woody Branton.
She attended Chapel Hill Elementary Schools, Asheville High School and UNC Chapel Hill. She was an ophthalmic nurse and assisted in laser surgeries but became a stay-at-home mom when her boys were born. They are Jake Branton McCormick and the love of his life, Taylor Trojanowski of Clayton, NC and Mark James McCormick, also of Clayton.
She leaves behind her aunt Norma Branton McKinney and husband Gerald McKinney. Cousins Holli McKinney and Eric of Syracuse, NY and Jill McKinney Parker and husband Brian of Bryson City, NC; cousins Andrew Bell and wife Nyla of Macon Georgia and Nicholas Bell and wife Candy of Asheville, NC. She also leaves her loving companion Bill Carter of Topsail Beach.
Melanie loved the beach and driving her new Mustang.
Cremation and a Memorial Service at a later date is planned.
