Michael Pote Obituary
Michael was born on September 25, 1981, to Doug Pote and Sherry Caldwell in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Kristen, and a loving father to his daughters, June (6) and Thea (4). He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Michael attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with Highest Honors, and a Juris Doctor degree while serving as an editor on the North Carolina Law Review. He worked as a research editor at Research Square (American Journal Experts) before returning to UNC to earn a Master of Accounting degree. Michael then went on to enjoy his career as a Mergers & Acquisition Tax Accountant with Grant Thornton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kristen Bridgers; his daughters, Juniper Ruth Bridgers-Pote and Theadora Margot Bridgers-Pote; his father, Doug Pote (Hope); and his brothers, Jeffrey Pote (Michelle), Austin Pote (Sloane), and Tanner Pote. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Lloyd and Eileen Pote.
A memorial service to honor Michael's life will be held at Trinity Life Church in Durham, NC, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, with a reception to follow at the Durham Food Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to an organization close to Michael's heart, the Southern Poverty Law Center.
