I am shocked. Have been trying to find Mike, a devoted friend who truly cared, and after a more random search came upon this. A very difficult way to learn of his passing. I always expected to talk more with him again. He and I were avid conversationalists, and ending any gab session always required discipline and strength. Fresh grief now is almost crippling. Mike was one of the most ALIVE people I've ever been blessed to know. Loved him from our very first conversation. We'd later learn that we had numerous other close friends. Oh, Mike, I'm so sorry to know you're no longer here. Your faith carried you, I know. Thank you for everything. Always, Tricia

Mike and I shared a house in Raleigh in the early 70's with Elliott Harrell and Tommy O'Berry, some of the fondest memories of my life. Mike, aka " Kinky" was a great roommate and friend, and there was never a dull moment.. We will miss him, but heaven will be a better place with him entertaining everyone up there. May God bless your family. We love you all!

Hi Beth Anne, Christopher, and Sara Anne
I just wanted to send my love in this very difficult time. I know I stand as one among hundreds who was positively impacted by Mike. As a kid he was always so nice to me and took the time to engage with me when many other adults did not. He also went out of his way to get Michael Jordans autograph for me because he knew what a fanatic I was. He was a truly special and sincerely loving person and I am so sorry for your loss. All my love to you and your family,
Grant

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Mike was such a nice person and his Dad, Adkin, was Allen´s brother-in-law.

Beth Anne, Sarah Anne, Christopher and family,
We were saddened to learn of your sudden loss of Mike, one day from Marcia losing her mother. We will always cherish our friendship when we lived across the street on Battleford Drive, especially in the aftermath of the 1988 tornado, when you guys opened up your home to our family at 2:00 am in the morning. I´m certain that through the immediate shock and physical loss, that you know Mike´s absence is temporary until you see him again, like my dad and Marcia´s mom. Please hold onto that, it will sustain you. Such a grand person who never met a stranger, Mike was always the first to welcome a new neighbor. We love you guys!

Mike was one of the first people we met and worked with when we moved here over 20 years ago. Mike's passion and outgoing nature was always infectious and welcoming. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers to Beth Anne and the family...

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Beth Anne and family. Mike was a great man and always fun to be around. I enjoyed growing up in Henderson with his brother Steve and playing basketball with Mike. Then we got older and played golf. We turned to yearly Myrtle Beach golf trips for the Toot Invitational. One of my best memories is from Prestonwood Golf Course at the Jimmy V in 1997 when Mike became Michael Jordan's official photographer! He could talk his way into or out of any situation depending on what he wanted to do. I'll remember the laughs, fun golf trips and Mike making everyone glad they came on the trip again. He's gone way too soon and too quickly. RIP my friend!

beth ann and family......I am a lifelong friend of mike's. we began our friendship in the first grade classroom all the way through high school, graduating in the class of 1972.mike had a wonderful shining personality and made everyone he talked to feel special. his infectious sense of humor made everyone happy. as adults it was evident to me just how much he loved his beautiful wife and just how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. I was so shocked to hear that he had passed away. God called him home doing what he loved with friends. he never had to suffer. what a blessing to him, but a shock and painful for his loved ones left behind. may his life be carried on in his children and grand children. he will never be forgotten. please accept my most sincere condolences.i will keep you all in my prayers as you grieve for your loss, asking God to give you His peace. love, Nancy Saunders whitt

May your golf drives be straight and with plenty of roll, down those streets paved with gold. May your approach shots kiss the angels high in the air, and land softly by the flagstick that´s waiting there. May your putts be short and easy, for in Heaven every hole is a birdie. Fore please! There´s a new Soul on the 1st Tee. Love you brother, Steve Grissom

Just shocked to hear this. I grew up with Mike (aka....Kinko) in Henderson. We played on many sports teams together.....he was a good athlete. I remember when he met Beth Ann.....he was smitten. The last time we were together one of my children called. I ended the conversation as I always do with......"I love you". Mike said he was so glad I did that because you never know if that will be last time they hear that from you. RIP my friend........Fletch

Beth Anne, I'm so sorry and shocked to hear about Mike's passing. Beth and my prayers are with you, Christopher, Sarah Anne and the rest of your family. Mike was a great friend and I'll never forget his laugh and those under the breath side comments that he would occasionally make that were absolutely hilarious. He will truly be missed by so many people. If you need anything don't hesitate to call.
