Doug and June,
I just read about your father in the Snow Hill paper. My heart goes out to you and your family.
My family lived around the corner from you on Dubose Drive in Kinston. My parents, Ira Ray Ham and Kyria Bunn Ham had Mr. Ossie do their taxes when they were living. Then I would go to his office with my grandmother, Metta Darden, and brother, Ray 'Sonny' Ham. Mr. Ossie was always such a nice, friendly, Christian man. You guys were blessed with such great parents. Let God help you remember the good times and give you peace.

May God bless you, comfort you, and give you peace at this time. Ossie performed the audit and other services for the North Carolina State Firemen's Association when I served on the Board of Directors for the organization. His knowledge, friendship, and general demeanor was very valuable and very much appreciated by me. I pray you find comfort knowing he is in a much better place with Jesus.

Lillian and Shackleford family,
I am saddened by the passing of Ossie. He was dearly loved by many, and was such a kind, and caring man of God. Lillian, I attended church at Faith Fellowship and was in the Sunday school class with you and Ossie. I know your heart is heavy, and I pray you will remember all the good memories with Ossie and keep them close in your heart. He will always be with you. Lillian, you are loved by many, and most of all, God loves you. God Bless you.

i knew ossie's family when i was a boy back in the late 1940s, especially Miss Irma, his wonderful mother. i spent my summers at the home of their neighbors Carl and Lanie Jones, my grandparents. i am the eldest son of their daughter Dorothy. my cousin Brenda Jean sent me the notice in the free press. some of my fondest memories are of family barbecues, to which the shacklefords were always invited. i probably last saw ossie more than 50 years ago.

Dear Lillian, Hope, Margo, and Ossie's family,
I am sorry to hear about Ossie. He and his family was thought of so much by my mother, Frances Cox as well as me. We always enjoyed seeing him at family gatherings as well as out and about. Of course, he did Mama's taxes for years. I never had to worry about her finances as long as Ossie was there to guide her. He was a wonderful man and he is going to truly be missed. Please know that I am thinking of you all.

Doug, June and family,
We thought the world of your daddy, both remembering him from our youth...Cliff from his dad's fertilizer business and mine of course from NWC...most recently we would enjoy getting to visit at Ken's Grill where we last saw him. What a fine Christian Ossie was and we will miss him.
Praying our Lord's comfort on each of you.
