Patricia Coman Obituary

Patricia Coman
July 2, 1953 - January 9, 2021
Raleigh, North Carolina - Patricia Latham Coman, 67, died Saturday, January 9, 2021 unexpectedly after a brief illness.
Trisha was born on July 2, 1953 in Kinston, NC to the late William Edward Latham and Naomi Howard Latham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James Joseph Coman and sister, Bonnie Latham.
She is survived by two loving daughters, Kara Granger Hoy and her husband Jeremy; Kimberly Coman Hunter and her husband Chad, all of Raleigh, NC; granddaughters Morgann Marie Granger and Meredith Naomi Hoy also of Raleigh. In addition, she is survived by her sister Karen Vastardis of Virginia Beach, VA, and also by her brothers in law Edward M. Coman [Leslie] of Raleigh, NC and Francis X. Coman [Terry] of Charlotte, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Trisha grew up in Portsmouth, VA and graduated from Cradock High School in 1971 and attended North Carolina State University. Trisha started her career with Guilford County Clerk of Court where she met the love of her life, Jim and ultimately moved to Raleigh, NC in 1985 where she selflessly put her career on hold in order to support her husbands career and devoted her life to raising their two daughters.
Trisha returned to the work force in 2006 and was an integral part of the start-up team for the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL). She enjoyed her work for the NCEL and created friendships that lasted well past her retirement in 2013.
Trisha was a woman of many talents. Well trained by her father who was a master carpenter, she could tell you the difference between "six penny and eight penny nails," diagnose a car problem as well as any mechanic, and was a self-taught seamstress who customized her own drapes and made many mother-daughter outfits. She loved working in the garden, cooking meals for her family, was an avid reader and enjoyed her yellow lab, Webster and her grand-pup, Gus who brought her lots of laughs. Trisha was a good friend and enjoyed by friends for her quick wit and compassion. Her tenderness found a purpose as a Deacon at North Raleigh Presbyterian for Ministry of Compassion and Care where she served for several years.
Her cremains will be interred in the columbarium at North Raleigh Presbyterian Church alongside her loving husband, Jim in a private family ceremony. Due to COVID-19 concerns a public celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Trisha's memory to: North Raleigh Presbyterian Church 11905 Strickland Road Raleigh, NC 27613.
