To the Carlin Family, we are so sorry to learn of your Father's passing. He was an awesome person to all and a good friend to us. We met in the early 1980's through working together, then we developed a personal relationship with the Carlin Family that continues to this day. We celebrated together on many happy and memorable occasions. We will miss him as we do your Mother Jane. May the Good Lord watch over you as you all go through the celebration of your parent's lives. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Love John and Carol Donofrio

I have worked with Pat at Dartford for a number of years. Pat had a unique way of getting the best out of people, a very inspiring leader, and always ready to put an arm around someone and help them.
He left an indelible mark on me, and my life is better for having known him.

Pat and I spent almost five years together as work colleagues on the GSK site at Dartford (UK). I always respected
him for always trying to do the best possible thing for the Company. His positive "can do " attitude, linked with humour, strength of personality and character, as well as tremendous enthusiasm endeared him to all his colleagues both on the site and in the wider GSK community. I am sure his parting has been a great loss to his family and although they do not know me I send my sincere condolences to all of them

Pat Carlin was one of the sweetest and funniest people I've ever known! While at Glaxo & GlaxoWellcome, it was always a pleasure to "hear" him coming to have a chat with me!!!! :)

To know where to begin in describing Pat Carlin as I knew him is indeed a challenge. As I began thinking about this, one word kept coming to mind-that word is "great." In so many, many ways, Patrick J. Carlin personified true greatness.
As his brother-in-law of 49 years, Pat was a great friend. Whenever we met, he would loudly exclaim-"Dennis, how the heck are ya?" and you knew he meant it.
Pat cared greatly about my wife and his sister whom he would always call by her full name-"Kathryn." He would often ask her to help with some preparations surrounding family gatherings. And it was always with that big, booming voice that got your full attention like right now. And you had better respond promptly, which always did out of respect. Because if you were called by Pat Carlin, an assignment usually awaited you of considerable importance. That powerful voice I will never forget.
Pat gave his sister one of the nicest gifts she ever received. To celebrate her 40th birthday, he and brother Tim gifted a trip to Ireland to Kathryn and her sister Genevieve (Sis)...their first trip ever to the Emerald Isle, home of their ancestors. Pat was always considerate and caring. You could count on a phone call on important dates like birthdays, Christmas and Easter. It was always so great to hear from Pat. That call will be one of the many, many special things about Pat we will both miss.
I will also always remember Pat for his great leadership and example as the eldest among the Carlin children. He was the pillar of strength when they lost their parents far too early in life -
Warren at age 57 and Isabel at 60. He kept the family together during that very tragic and trying period. Through Pat's leadership, the foundation for a lifetime of enduring love and mutual support was formed in their wonderful family.
Pat was always looked up to by any and all who came to know him. He personified integrity, hard work, determination and good deeds. He cared about those he associated with and you knew he would be there if you needed him. He expected you to give your best and was not reluctant to let you know when he felt you did not. He unfailingly treated others with dignity, respect and understanding.
I could go on and on about Pat and how exemplary a person he was. There are many, many more wonderful attributes and examples of his goodness that could be listed. I know I will miss him and my reflections will always be only ones of respect and admiration for this great man.

Pat - a work relationship that evolved into true friendship was so special for us.We hope you feel complimented to know that you were more "Irish" than the Irish, and this combined with all that is "America", gave us the joy of your big personality and the value set that was respected by so many.
There is so much in you to miss
- your sense of fun and your laughter
-date nights
- putting the world to right
- family talk
- debating " true" football and whether the hammers would do any good
.......and so much more
We cannot believe you are gone - a life well lived but oh so short.
Will drink a pint of Guinness with your name on it.
Be at peace with Jane - we love you both.
Deepest condolences to the whole family

Patrick was a wonderful husband to our sister Jane, a number one brother-in-law to us. We could not ask for a finer Irish lad. Paddy excelled as a father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many who will miss him. The wind was always at his back. Willie Wampum will live in our hearts forever.

Pat was a charismatic leader with energy, drive and a huge sense of fun. I worked with him closely when he was at Dartford in the UK and he met every challenge head on, maintaining the spirit of a large workforce through a very difficult time. He was a champion for doing the right thing for people and what you saw was always what you got with Pat. No politics, no personal agenda - just a commitment to do what he believed in. Pat and Jane were kind enough to share their family thanksgiving with us when we were in the US. Such a wonderful family and a fun, vibrant friend, father and grandfather. That is how we will always remember him. Our sincere condolences to all his family on his passing, and we hope you are comforted by all the happy memories that you will undoubtedly have of him.

Pat will be missed by his family and friends! He was a super great guy and a wonderful friend & classmate at Marquette. So glad I was informed of his passing. Wish I could fly to Raleigh to attend his funeral, but other commitments prevent that. My sincerest sympathy to the family and especially to his sister Genevieve (Jenny to me)!

Pat and Jane were generous and well respected in our Raleigh Daltons Ridge neighborhood. Their memory and legacy of entertaining continues as we gather for the traditional monthly party - which was initiated by Pat and Jane. Our sympathy to the family Elizabeth & Bill Sar.
